Lighthouse ME

This is us!  Thanks again S&W it really was an amazing trip!

Rocks on the cliffs near the lighthouse.

If you take a look on the  Maine quarter you will see this lighthouse!

This is what the light looks like inside the lighthouse.  This is a working lighthouse - the light also produces a nice wave of heat.  The reason there is a split on the back is because that is the portion that points inland.  The light can be seen 12 miles out.

We also made a trip to the flagship LL Bean store - open 24 hours.  This place was huge.

As Seen ... From the Car Window

A few pictures taken from my car window (since it was a road trip!).  As you can see the colors are simply amazing.  The last pictures is a combination of huge pumpkins that were along the street of this little town during their fall festival.  Next posting  will be the lighthouse portion of the trip...

Ocean Spray Growers

We made a stop in Massachusetts to go to the cranberry harvest festival.  You get to go onto the cranberry farm to watch a real cranberry harvest - this particular farm is a grower for Ocean Spray.
There are two different methods of harvesting - wet and dry.  The first couple of pictures are of the wet harvest.  It is amazing how many cranberries grow on those bushes.  The next couple of pictures are of the dry harvest - we walked right out on the berry bushes - it was so interesting to see.
The different methods of harvesting are for different uses.  The wet harvest berries are used for juices and the dry harvest berries are for fresh fruit, etc.  (the dry harvest berries last a lot longer).  If you want more info you can google or wikipedia it!  Enjoy the pictures!
